Liam has hurt his leg today so we had Phil for the web page design today then in the afternoon we had guest speaker Tony Chance, a very renowned storyboard artist for films like American Beauty, AvP, Road to Perdition and Mission Impossible. The talk was really informative and Tony told us about some great story’s about the film industry. He also showed us how his boards relate to the movies themselves and passed around some original AvP artwork he had done. I also found out what the producers role in a movie is, the cash handler.

Went to the Mac Expo today with the course, it was a great day. There was a lot of big boys toys, but i found two things very interesting. One was a Photoshop plugin called Vertus Fluid Mask, a great tool for cropping out things like bushy hair and trees etc, although on the expensive side, £149. Another great thing was the Google demonstration, where they talked about google sketchup and google earth software that you can download for free.

Personal presentation day today, very interesting finding out about everyones lives and what their strong points are when it comes to design. Matts portfolio was awesome, very impressive but I had seen some of his work at Poole College.

Presentation day today for the Joseph Beuys research project with Matt, Sam and Elliot. I thought it went quite well, the other peoples presentations were really informative as well. We also got given a new presentation for next week, a brief story of our lives, should be fun.

Had another lecture with Liam today and learnt how to do rollovers, tables and frames which I found very useful. Had my first idea for the look of my site, I’m going to design it around my new Mac Book Pro.

Had our first Image Manipulation with Phil today, looked at some great photo retouching and manipulation websites, I was particularly impressed with Taylor James, his retouching and 3d modeling are near on perfect.

Had our first lecture with Bob today, he’s cool. Got given a group presentation to do on famous artist Joseph Beuys, and my team consists of Matt, Sam and Elliot.

Had our first lesson with Liam today, got given our brief for the interactive web page design and went through a few web standards/rules etc and some very simple html. All very basic but needed to make sure everyone is at the same level, looking forward to the brief.

A great day out team building in Swanage and Sandbanks, Team Cool is formed and builds an ork village sandcastle at Sandbanks, it was a fun day and here’s the sandcastle.
