{"id":2067,"date":"2011-06-08T15:21:41","date_gmt":"2011-06-08T14:21:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.benmgiles.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=2067"},"modified":"2011-06-08T15:29:05","modified_gmt":"2011-06-08T14:29:05","slug":"doctor-who-matt-smith-confirmed-for-2012-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.benmgiles.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=2067","title":{"rendered":"Doctor Who Matt Smith Confirmed for 2012 Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Matt Smith has signed on to appear in a new series of Doctor Who, the BBC has confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Fourteen new episodes of the sci-fi show, written by executive producer Steven Moffat, have been commissioned.<\/p>\n<p>However it is not yet known when the new episodes will be broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>The corporation also confirmed there would be six more episodes of the current series to be screened later this year and a 2011 Christmas special starring Smith is planned.<\/p>\n<p>Sam Hodges, head of communications for BBC One, fiction and daytime, <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/Sam_Hodges\" target=\"blank\">tweeted<\/a> on Tuesday: &#8220;#DoctorWho is returning. Fourteen new episodes have been commissioned with Matt Smith as The Doctor #bbc1.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Moffat later <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/steven_moffat\" target=\"blank\">added<\/a>: &#8220;14 eps + Matt DEFINITELY. I&#8217;ve got a plan and I&#8217;m NOT TELLING YOU WHAT IT IS.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the writer told the Radio Times the Daleks would be given &#8220;a rest&#8221; from the series.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a problem with the Daleks.
