BADMINTON<\/h4>\n

Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier\u00a0<\/strong>are out<\/a>\u00a0after losing\u00a011-21 21-17 21-14<\/a>\u00a0to Germany’s Michael Fuchs and Birgit Michels, their second defeat at the group stage.<\/p>\n

BASKETBALL<\/h4>\n

The\u00a0men’s\u00a0<\/strong>team are\u00a0beaten 95-75 by Russia<\/a>\u00a0in their opening group game, despite NBA star Luol Deng racking up 26 points.<\/p>\n

BEACH VOLLEYBALL<\/h4>\n

Shauna Mullin and Zara Dempsey\u00a0<\/strong>beat Canada 2-1 in their Group F match. The pair won\u00a015-13 win in the final set.<\/a><\/p>\n

BOXING<\/h4>\n

World number two\u00a0Fred Evans\u00a0<\/strong>wins his welterweight opener against Algeria’s Ilyas Abbadi\u00a018-10.<\/a>\u00a0The Welshman faces number four seed Egidijus Kavaliauskas of Lithuania in the next round.<\/p>\n

21-year-old\u00a0Josh Evans\u00a0<\/strong>wins his lightweight clash against Brazilian Robson Conceicao\u00a013-9.<\/a><\/p>\n

CANOE SLALOM<\/h4>\n

David Florence\u00a0<\/strong>is ranked fifth in the men’s canoe single C1 with a score of\u00a093.04<\/a>\u00a0to progress to the semi-finals.<\/p>\n

Richard Hounslow\u00a0<\/strong>is through in 11th place with a score of\u00a089.12<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s kayak single K1 qualifying round.<\/p>\n

CYCLING<\/h4>\n

Lizzie Armitstead\u00a0<\/strong>wins\u00a0Britain’s first medal<\/a>\u00a0with SILVER in the women’s road race in a time of\u00a0three hours 35 minutes and 29 seconds,<\/a>\u00a0which is not quite enough to beat Netherlands’s Marianne Vos at the line. Russia’s Olga Zabelinskaya takes bronze, 2008 Olympic champion\u00a0Nicole Cooke\u00a0<\/strong>finishes 31st and\u00a0Emma Pooley\u00a0<\/strong>40th.\u00a0Lucy Martin\u00a0<\/strong>ends the race outside the top 40 riders.<\/p>\n

DIVING<\/h4>\n

Alicia Blagg\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Rebecca Gallantree\u00a0<\/strong>finish seventh in the women’s synchronised 3m springboard final with a score of\u00a0285.60.<\/a><\/p>\n

EQUESTRIAN<\/h4>\n

After dressage in the individual eventing,\u00a0Kristina Cook\u00a0<\/strong>on Miners Frolic is ranked 14th with\u00a042.00 penalty points.<\/a>\u00a0William Fox-Pitt\u00a0<\/strong>is joint 17th on Lionheart with 44.10.\u00a0Zara Phillips\u00a0<\/strong>on High Kingdom lies in joint 24th place with 46.10 points.<\/p>\n

Today’s action means that\u00a0Mary King\u00a0<\/strong>on Imperial Cavalier is now in 12th place, with\u00a0Nicola Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>on Operation Buzz in joint 39th. Both competed yesterday.<\/p>\n

Overall,\u00a0Great Britain\u00a0<\/strong>sit in third in the team eventing behind Australia and first-placed Germany with a score of\u00a0127.00.<\/a><\/p>\n

FENCING<\/h4>\n

James Honeybone\u00a0<\/strong>goes out<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s individual sabre round of 64, beaten\u00a015-9<\/a>\u00a0by Valery Pryiemka of Belarus.<\/p>\n

FOOTBALL<\/h4>\n

The\u00a0men’s\u00a0<\/strong>team need just a draw in their final group game against Uruguay after\u00a0a 3-1 victory over UAE<\/a>\u00a0at Wembley.<\/p>\n

GYMNASTICS<\/h4>\n

Beth Tweddle\u00a0<\/strong>tops qualifying<\/a>\u00a0with a huge 16.133 for the uneven bars after four of five sessions.\u00a0Rebecca Tunney,\u00a0<\/strong>the youngest Briton at the Olympics at 15, scores 56.391 from the four pieces of apparatus – bars, beam, floor and vault – with\u00a0Hannah Whelan\u00a0<\/strong>55.699. The pair lie 10th and 12th respectively.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Pinches\u00a0<\/strong>is ranked 17th while\u00a0Imogen Cairns\u00a0<\/strong>has a score of 27.299 after two pieces of apparatus.<\/p>\n

In the team all around event,\u00a0Team GB\u00a0<\/strong>are fourth with a score of170.656.<\/a><\/p>\n

HANDBALL<\/h4>\n

The\u00a0men’s\u00a0<\/strong>team suffer\u00a0a heavy 44-15 defeat<\/a>\u00a0by Olympic champions France in their first ever handball match at the Games.<\/p>\n

HOCKEY<\/h4>\n

The\u00a0women’s\u00a0<\/strong>team begin their campaign with a\u00a04-0 win over Japan,<\/a>but have injury worries over captain Kate Walsh and Helen Richardson.<\/p>\n

JUDO<\/h4>\n

Colin Oates\u00a0<\/strong>is\u00a0beaten 1-0<\/a>\u00a0by Lasha Shavdatuashvili of Georgia in his -66kg\u00a0quarter-final,<\/a>\u00a0and loses his\u00a0repechage contest<\/a>\u00a0against South Korea’s Jun-Ho Cho to miss out on the chance of a bronze medal. Earlier he beat Australia’s Ivo Dos Santos\u00a02-0<\/a>\u00a0in the elimination round of 32 and then overcame 2009 world champion Tsagaanbaatar Khashbaatar of Mongolia\u00a01-0.<\/a><\/p>\n

Sophie Hosking\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Kat Copeland\u00a0<\/strong>reach the semi-final of the women’s lightweight double sculls in a time of\u00a06:56.97.<\/a><\/p>\n

Zac Purchase\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Mark Hunter\u00a0<\/strong>also progress to the semi-final of the men’s lightweight double sculls, winning heat two in\u00a06:36.29.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ellen Gandy finishes eighth\u00a0<\/strong>in the women’s 100m butterfly final with a time of 57.76.<\/p>\n

Ieuan Lloyd\u00a0<\/strong>finishes sixth in heat four of the 200m freestyle and\u00a019th overall<\/a>\u00a0which is not enough to qualify for the semi-finals.<\/p>\n

Kate Haywood\u00a0<\/strong>and 16-year-old team-mate\u00a0Siobhan-Marie O’Connor<\/strong>fail to qualify<\/a>\u00a0in the women’s 100m breaststroke.<\/p>\n

Liam Tancock\u00a0<\/strong>finishes second in his semi-final to go through to the men’s 100m backstroke final with a\u00a0time of 53.25.<\/a><\/p>\n

Chris Walker-Hebborn’s\u00a0<\/strong>time of 54.78 is not enough for him to qualify for the 100m backstroke final as he finishes in\u00a020th place overall.<\/a><\/p>\n

The\u00a0men’s team\u00a0<\/strong>finish 12th<\/a>\u00a0and go out of the 4x100m freestyle relay.<\/p>\n

TABLE TENNIS<\/h4>\n

Paul Drinkhall\u00a0<\/strong>beats world number 54 Zi Yang of Singapore\u00a04-1<\/a>\u00a0to go through to the third round. He will play Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov.<\/p>\n

Joanna Parker\u00a0<\/strong>loses to Germany’s Kristin Silbereisen\u00a04-1<\/a>\u00a0in the second round of the women’s singles.<\/p>\n

TENNIS<\/h4>\n

Andy Murray\u00a0<\/strong>beats Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka<\/a>\u00a06-3 6-3<\/a>\u00a0on Centre Court at Wimbledon to progress to the men’s singles second round.<\/p>\n

Anne Keothavong and Elena Baltacha’s\u00a0<\/strong>match against Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Gronefeld in the women’s doubles first round is cancelled because of rain. The British duo will now play the Germans on Monday.<\/p>\n

Laura Robson’s\u00a0<\/strong>singles match against Lucie Safarova and\u00a0Heather Watson’s\u00a0<\/strong>clash against Silivia Soler Espinosa will also be played on Monday.<\/p>\n

VOLLEYBALL<\/h4>\n

GB’s\u00a0men\u00a0<\/strong>are beaten in their first ever Olympic volleyball match, losing\u00a03-0<\/a>\u00a0to Bulgaria in the group stage.<\/p>\n

WATER POLO<\/h4>\n
