Britain finished the day on a total of 15 medals, compared with seven at this stage at Beijing in 2008, and are fifth in the medal table.<\/p>\n

BASKETBALL<\/h4>\n

Team GB\u00a0<\/strong>lose by a single point to Spain in\u00a0their third group match.<\/a>Great Britain dominate the final quarter but just fall short with the final score\u00a079-78.<\/a><\/p>\n

BEACH VOLLEYBALL<\/h4>\n

Shauna Mullin\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Zara Dampney\u00a0<\/strong>are beaten\u00a02-0<\/a>\u00a0by Ekaterina Khomyakova and Evgeniya Ukolova of Russia in their\u00a0final match of the preliminary round finishing third in Group F.<\/a><\/p>\n

BOXING<\/h4>\n

Anthony Ogogo\u00a0<\/strong>causes an upset<\/a>\u00a0as he beats world champion Ievgen Khytrov of Ukraine in the last 16 of the men’s middleweight. The score finishes\u00a018-18<\/a>\u00a0but Ogogo is declared the winner after countback.<\/p>\n

Josh Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>loses\u00a0his last 16 fight<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s lightweight against Domenico Valentino. The final score is\u00a015-10.<\/a><\/p>\n

CANOE SLALOM<\/h4>\n

Tim Baillie\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Etienne Stott\u00a0<\/strong>win GOLD<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s C2 canoe double with a score of106.41.<\/a>\u00a0David Florence\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Richard Hounslow\u00a0<\/strong>complete a British one-two by taking the\u00a0SILVER<\/a>\u00a0with a score of\u00a0106.77.<\/a><\/p>\n

Lizzie Neave\u00a0<\/strong>finishes 12th in the women’s kayak single K1 with a score of\u00a0117.30<\/a>\u00a0and goes out.<\/p>\n

CYCLING<\/h4>\n

Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Philip Hindes\u00a0<\/strong>win GOLD<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s team sprint and break the world record they had set in the heats with a time of\u00a042.600 seconds.<\/a><\/p>\n

World champions\u00a0Ed Clancy, Geraint Thomas, Steven Burke\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Peter Kennaugh\u00a0<\/strong>set a new world record of\u00a0three minutes 52.499 seconds<\/a>\u00a0and are fastest in the men’s team pursuit qualification.<\/p>\n

Victoria Pendleton\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Jess Varnish\u00a0<\/strong>are relegated from the first round<\/a>\u00a0of the women’s team sprint and do not race for a medal. The pair briefly set a new world record of\u00a032.526 seconds<\/a>\u00a0in qualification only to have it beaten minutes later by the Chinese.<\/p>\n

EQUESTRIAN<\/h4>\n

Carl Hester\u00a0<\/strong>riding Uthopia\u00a0leads the individual dressage<\/a>\u00a0after 25 riders with a score of\u00a077.720.<\/a>\u00a0Just behind in second place is\u00a0Laura Bechtolsheimer\u00a0<\/strong>on Mistral Hojris with\u00a076.839.<\/a>\u00a0Hester, Bechtolsheimer and\u00a0Charlotte Dujardin\u00a0<\/strong>lead the team event. Dujardin and\u00a0Richard Davison,\u00a0<\/strong>who rides as an individual, compete on Friday.<\/p>\n

FENCING<\/h4>\n

In the women’s team foil, the trio of\u00a0Anna Bentley, Natalia Sheppard<\/strong>and\u00a0Sophie Troiano\u00a0<\/strong>are out,<\/a>\u00a0losing to Italy\u00a042-14<\/a>\u00a0in the quarter-finals. Earlier they beat Egypt\u00a045-34.<\/a><\/p>\n

GYMNASTICS<\/h4>\n

In the\u00a0individual all-around final,<\/a>\u00a0Rebecca Tunney\u00a0<\/strong>finishes 13th,<\/a>with\u00a0Hannah Whelan\u00a0<\/strong>finishing in 24th place.<\/p>\n

HANDBALL<\/h4>\n

Argentina beat\u00a0Great Britain\u00a0<\/strong>32-21<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s preliminaries, GB’s third defeat so far.<\/p>\n

HOCKEY<\/h4>\n

The\u00a0Great Britain\u00a0<\/strong>women’s side beat Belgium\u00a03-0<\/a>\u00a0in their\u00a0third Group A match,<\/a>\u00a0maintaining their 100% record and keeping them top of the group.<\/p>\n

JUDO<\/h4>\n

Gemma Gibbons\u00a0<\/strong>takes Britain’s first judo medal since Sydney 2000, aSILVER<\/a>\u00a0in the -78kg final after losing\u00a02-0<\/a>\u00a0to Kayla Harrison of the United States. On her route to the final she beats Audrey Tcheumeo of France in the semi-final\u00a0by an ippon.<\/a>\u00a0She also wins\u00a01-0<\/a>\u00a0against Marhinde Verkerk of Netherlands in their quarter-final, beats Mongolia’s Lkhamdegd Purevjargal\u00a0two yuko to one<\/a>\u00a0in the last 16 and sees off 2011 European bronze medallist Yahima Ramirez of Portugal\u00a0by an ippon<\/a>\u00a0in the round of 32.<\/p>\n

James Austin\u00a0<\/strong>goes out of the men’s -100kg to 2010 world champion Takamasa Anai of Japan, losing\u00a01-0.<\/a><\/p>\n

ROWING<\/h4>\n

Rob Williams, Chris Bartley, Peter Chambers\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Richard Chambers\u00a0<\/strong>take SILVER<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s lightweight four with a time of\u00a06:03.09,<\/a>\u00a0just beaten by South Africa in a thrilling final 500m.<\/p>\n

Alex Gregory, Pete Reed, Tom James\u00a0<\/strong>andAndrew Triggs Hodge\u00a0<\/strong>come from behind to beat their main rivals Australia and win semi-final one of the men’s four in\u00a05:58.26.<\/a><\/p>\n

Sophie Hosking\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Katherine Copeland<\/strong>produce a tremendous last 500m to win their semi-final of the women’s lightweight double sculls in\u00a07:05.90.<\/a><\/p>\n

Zac Purchase\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Mark Hunter\u00a0<\/strong>win the second semi-final of the men’s lightweight double sculls in\u00a06.36.62<\/a>\u00a0and go into the final\u00a0second fastest overall.<\/a>\u00a0This result means all 13 British boats are through to their finals.<\/p>\n

Bill Lucas\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sam Townsend\u00a0<\/strong>can’t match the pace of winners New Zealand and are beaten into fifth place in the final of the men’s double sculls, with a time of\u00a06:40.54.<\/a><\/p>\n

GB\u00a0<\/strong>women’s eight come fifth in their final in\u00a06:18:77,<\/a>\u00a0with United States, favourites for the event, taking gold.<\/p>\n

SAILING<\/h4>\n

Iain Percy\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Andrew Simpson\u00a0<\/strong>stay\u00a0first overall<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s Star as they win race seven in\u00a01:12:08<\/a>\u00a0and are second in race eight\u00a0behind Sweden.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ben Ainslie\u00a0<\/strong>is\u00a0second overall<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s Finn as he wins race seven in\u00a058:34<\/a>\u00a0and is third in race eight with a time of\u00a059:18.<\/a><\/p>\n

Stevie Morrison\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Ben Rhodes\u00a0<\/strong>win races seven and eight of the men’s 49er, which puts them\u00a0second overall,<\/a>\u00a011 points behind favourites Australia.<\/p>\n

Luke Patience\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Stuart Bithell\u00a0<\/strong>come second<\/a>\u00a0in the opening race of the men’s 470 and go on to win the second\u00a054:57.<\/a>\u00a0They are first in theoverall standings.<\/a><\/p>\n

In their Elliot 6m round robin match\u00a0Great Britain’s women\u00a0<\/strong>beat Sweden and sit joint\u00a0fifth overall.<\/a><\/p>\n

Bryony Shaw\u00a0<\/strong>lies\u00a0seventh overall<\/a>\u00a0after races five and six races in the women’s RS-X.<\/p>\n

Peter Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>wins GOLD<\/a>\u00a0in the men’s double trap with a score of\u00a0188,<\/a>two shots clear of Sweden’s Hakan Dahlby.<\/p>\n

Richard Faulds\u00a0<\/strong>is placed 12th in qualification of the men’s double trap with\u00a0133<\/a>\u00a0and goes out.<\/p>\n

SWIMMING<\/h4>\n

Fran Halsall\u00a0<\/strong>finishes sixth in an incredibly tight women’s 100m freestyle final with a time of\u00a053.66 seconds.<\/a><\/p>\n

James Goddard\u00a0<\/strong>comes seventh in the men’s 200m individual medley final with a time of\u00a01:59.05.<\/a><\/p>\n

Lizzie Simmonds\u00a0<\/strong>finishes fifth in the semi-final of the\u00a0women’s 200m backstroke,<\/a>\u00a0and qualifies for the final tomorrow night with a time of 2:08.48.\u00a0Stephanie Proud\u00a0<\/strong>comes fourth in the other semi-final, but her time of 2:09.04 means she misses out.<\/p>\n

Adam Brown\u00a0<\/strong>comes seventh in heat six of the men’s 50m freestyle in22.39<\/a>\u00a0and is out.<\/p>\n

Michael Rock\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Anthony James\u00a0<\/strong>are out of the men’s 100m butterfly after finishing their heats in seventh\u00a0(52.56)<\/a>\u00a0and last\u00a0(53.25)<\/a>\u00a0respectively.<\/p>\n

TENNIS<\/h4>\n

Andy Murray\u00a0<\/strong>beats Nicolas Almagro<\/a>\u00a0of Spain\u00a06-4 6-1<\/a>\u00a0in less than an hour to reach the Olympic singles semi-finals where he will face Novak Djokovic.<\/p>\n

Murray\u00a0<\/strong>joins\u00a0Laura Robson\u00a0<\/strong>for the mixed doubles, and the pair win their first round match\u00a07-5 6-7 (7-9) 10-7.<\/a><\/p>\n

VOLLEYBALL<\/h4>\n
