Had a talk and presentation with 3rd year student Steven Marr today. He showed us his simple yet really effective large pixel lighting technique which he uses to light stages at live events/concerts. It consists of a metre square grid of smaller diffused squares with led lights beneath which show colour pixel by pixel. Although I am not really interested in going into the stage lighting route the possibility’s are endless through-out all multimedia purposes.
Had our first lesson on Maya in the 3D spaces brief. I think I got down some of the workings of the software but there is a lot to learn in such a small time span.
My first look into After Effects is a bit of a confusing one but it has layers like Photoshop so hopefully I will find it easy. Think I got my head around it by the end of the day.
Had our first Crit today for the Image Manipulation project, was really interesting to see everyones work and listen to the criticism given by Liam and Phil, my turn went fine. Next week we’re starting the After Effects segment which I’m although apprehensive (because I haven’t used it before) I am looking forward to.
Finished writing my report today and published it on the server with my very first web page, found the webpage easy as I had done things like that before fairly simple.
Had our half way Crit today, everyone got a chance to show their ideas and there is some really impressive stuff. What I thought most exciting was Jim’s interactive mini world he is trying to create, my turn went fine.
More timeline today with Bob. Not many people have done this one, only myself and a handfull of others present but I misinterpret the presentation and show the new Dome (The O2) floor plan which I found on the website.
